The secret’s getting out that Mexico’s Guadalupe Valley is making some of the best wines worldwide. These backcountry vineyards are remote and rustic, yet sophisticated, hip, and refreshingly innovative. Located about 2 hours south of San Diego, trust me when I say, Mexico’s wine country is unlike any other you’ve experienced. If looking for a weekend getaway, look no further than Hotel Hacienda Guadalupe.
At Hotel Hacienda Guadalupe you can enjoy a boutique-style hotel with jaw-dropping views of the valley. The hacienda (Spanish for large estate or plantation) is stunningly impressive with large archways and Spanish tiles, while maintaining a friendly and casual atmosphere.
Wine Tasting
Hotel Hacienda Guadalupe has some of the best selections of wine in the valley! Here there are over 150 wines to choose from. Stroll out onto the terrace to enjoy the fine wines and soak up the most spectacular views of the valley. The staff also provides excellent quality service. They are very knowledgeable on key notes in the wines and the best foods to pair them with. The Melchum (Chardonnay/Sauvignon blanc blend) was a personal fav!
Restaurant
Be sure to come hungry because Hotel Hacienda Guadalupe’s restaurant is a must! The talented in-house chef, Chef Ernesto Rocha creates some of the best regional cuisine around.
Anything you order is guaranteed to be a win! I was blown away by the seasonal aged, smoked duck with the corn and huitlacoche (Mexican truffle) soup.
Even if you’re stuffed to the brim, you just can’t leave without dessert. The pink peppercorn ice cream can’t be found anywhere else, and is the perfect end to an already delicious meal.
I visited Guadalupe Valley as a guest with Hotel Hacienda Guadalupe, who I cannot thank enough for an amazing and wonderful experience!
