When I was a little girl, I dreamt of being a princess. I would dress up in long gowns and pretend I lived in a beautiful castle. I imagined I was unique, and one day, my prince would come for me. As I grew up, I realized that many woman have similar thoughts and dreams. We actually all seem to have this deep longing and desire to be rescued by our prince. It was then that I began to wonder, why do woman have this desire to be a princess? Is it just because they’re pretty, or is there something more?

We seem to have this built-in desire to be unique, set apart, and loved unconditionally. It’s in our very nature. Every fiber of our being longs for this. But why?

We are Daughters of the King

Well my dears, it’s because we are actually created this way. God actually planted these desires in our hearts. We are daughters of the one true King (Jesus Christ). And since we are created in God’s image, that means that these are also the desires of God’s heart. He actually longs to be loved unconditionally by us. He wants to be set apart!

It’s actually the first commandment, “Thou shalt have no other Gods before me”. On top of that, it says repeatedly in his Word that he is a jealous God.

In fact, when Jesus is asked what the greatest commandment of the Law is, he replies, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Now ladies, if a man told you he loved you with all his HEART and all his SOUL and all his MIND, tell me you would not swoon? Hearts across the world have melted away. With words like that, you might even forgive him for not doing the dishes last night. ?

And yet, this is what our God wants from us. He desires a passionate love from us. Just as we desire a passionate love from our men.

And as desperately as your heart might long for your prince to come along, know that a King is already yours for the taking. All all you have to do, is choose Him. For you are a princess. You are a Daughter of the King. Loved and adored immeasurably by the one who created you. The one who has made you unique, and has set you apart.
