Are You Feeling Called to Blog? I have said this before and I will say it again, if you even in the slightest way feel called to blog – do it!!

You have a voice. You have a story. There is something special and unique about you, and the world needs to hear it.

There are many different pastors for a reason. There are many different types of churches for a reason. Not everyone likes megachurches, and that is okay. Not everyone likes traditional churches, and that is also okay. That’s why God has given us variety.

I can’t reach everyone with my story because not everyone can relate to my story (you can read more about my testimony here). I simply just don’t gel with everyone, and I am okay with that. But I reach the people I am supposed to reach and I inspire the people I am supposed to inspire.

I know that your story will help, inspire, and comfort someone. One of my favorite Rick Warren quotes is, “Your greatest ministry will come from your deepest pain”. I 100% know this to be true in my own life, and I have a crazy hunch it’s probably true in your life, too.

Only you can give someone the motivation they need to keep believing in God’s promises after a painful miscarriage, or after declaring bankruptcy, or after a serious illness.

What is your story?

Whatever it is, I am confident that God will use it. You just need to overcome the biggest hurdle, and that is to just start.

If God has laid this on your heart, the least you can do is take action.

Start your blog the right way

I unfortunately delayed myself by procrastinating a year before ever beginning my blog. I wish I could get that year back. The enemy will come at you with all kinds of reasons as to why you shouldn’t start right now.

You don’t have time.

You’re not good enough.

You don’t know what you’re doing.

Well friends – let me just give you some truth.

You don’t have time. I know and I feel you. We are all busy, but this just means you will need to make the time. I had to sacrifice my evenings and weekends to get this little passion project off the ground, and I am so glad I did. I don’t regret it for a second. Everything good in life requires sacrifice.

You’re not good enough. Here’s a little secret, you will never feel good enough. That is why you just have to start. I look back at my first blog posts and cringe. I look back at my first Instagram posts and cringe. But guess what, I never would have improved if I didn’t just start. You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be willing to try. I can honestly say you don’t improve overnight, but you WILL get better the more you do it. That is fact.

You don’t know what you’re doing. Ha! Neither did I. Like, I literally had NO IDEA. But that’s okay, and that is why I am here. I am going to hand hold you through this process. Well, at least as much as I can. After a year of fumbling around doing everything WRONG (and after a lot of trial and error) things FINALLY started coming together for me. My goal is to spare you that year of trial and error.

As you will find throughout this post, I can do only so much. Why is that? Because I am still a student, and I am still learning. There are plenty of excellent bloggers and mentors who are doing it BETTER than me, and who I admire and look up to. You will need to learn off of their expertise and wisdom, just as I have and still do.

So, with all of that said are you ready to start your blog? There is honestly TONS of information online and it can feel extremely overwhelming. The most frustrating part? Half of it is out of date. Scratch that – I would say 80% of the information you read is out of date. So, don’t waste your precious time trying to implementing practices that no longer works. All of the information I am giving you is stuff that is working NOW.

Start your blog the right way

I have divided this post into sections to keep it organized. No matter where you are in your blogging journey I HIGHLY recommend reading everything. Even if you just skimming the stuff you think you already know, still give them a skim.

This is what you can expect from the rest of this series:

You’re gonna find loads of goodies on this site, but one of my fav’s is my brand spankin’ new free ebook on your identity in Christ. Cut to the chase – Jesus thinks you’re pretty cool – but my ebook explains just how cool you really are. It’s kinda amazing.
